ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Close to Wollongong in the Illawarra region of NSW

The Residential House Manager is responsible for the delivery of high quality services, care and support that promotes the emotional, social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young people. This position works within a trauma informed therapeutic framework and is responsible for the leadership, supervision, support and development of the staff.
The Residential House Manager works closely with the Therapeutic Specialist, Caseworker and other staff to provide
high quality therapeutic care and assist young people to heal from trauma and achieve their full potential. Complex mental health, disability, emotional and behavioural issues are characteristics of these children and young people, resulting in behaviours that often present a risk to themselves and others in their immediate environment. You will be responsible for:

• Managing the daily operations of the home;
• Coordinating the daily care and support of resident young people;
• Create and support a therapeutic social environment within the home;
• Provide leadership, support and supervision to staff in the care and management of each young person;
• Participate and engage in team planning, review and development
• Manage the household financial responsibilities

KEY CRITERIA

• Bachelor Degree qualification in a relevant field or be studying for one
• Diploma considered however only with exceptional experience
• Experience working with OOHC and Child Protection
• Experience within a supervisory/management position
• Understanding of mental health and trauma
• Understanding of the struggles faced by Aboriginal communities
